Local Area: Manot village is just a few minutes drive away. It has a General Store, Patiserie, boules pitch, football stadium and tennis courts. The Velo Rail is a popular tourist attraction, runs from Confolens and Romazieres and terminates in Manot at the Station Cafe. The spectacular River Vienne runs through Manot, and you can follow its picturesque meandering path into the delightful historic town of Confolens, which hosts an International Music Festival every August. On the river here you can hire canoes and pedalos. Confolens holds a small weekly market, and a larger market on the 12th of each month. Roumazieres stands in the opposite direction from Manot, again only 10 minutes away. Here there is an excellent cheap and cheerful Friterie, a very good Pizzeria and a superb free man-made beach, set in picturesque country surroundings. There are two lakes here, one for pleasure activities, and one exclusively for fishing. Le Couret is an ideal location for you to walk, cycle, go fishing or simply relax. Other things to do, and places to visit: There is plenty to keep everyone entertained... Cognac - A beautiful town surrounded by Vine Yards and Melon Fields, just 60 minutes away and you can visit numerous distilleries and sample brandy and pinot at its best. Francois I, King of France was born here. La Rochelle - A delightful historic coastal resort, just 2 hours away. Visit one of France's most famous Zoos and the well publicised Monkey Valley. Oradous-Sur-Glane - An historic martyr village, a must to visit, only 30 minuets away. La Rochefoucauld - A typical picturesque French town with a grand chataeu, which is open to the public every day. Near the entrance to the chataeu is a small chocolate factory, worth a visit. Only 30 minutes away. Confolens - A definate must to visit, and only 10 minutes away. Here there are quaint streets to amble through, and all amenities on hand. Supermarkets, Banks, Post Office, Tabacs, Chemist, General Shops, Velo Rail, Water Sports and Animal Parc. Poitiers - A large thriving, busy town, with airport! Here you can visit Futuroscope (a moving image theme park) only 1 hour away. Limoges - Famous for it's pottery, host wonderful French street cafes and great for shopping.
